Best Places to Travel With Kids in 2023
It’s officially August. Time is flying by. Summer is winding down. But there are still places to see and things to do! These are my best places to travel with kids in 2023 (and beyond).
Orlando, Florida
One of the beautiful things about Florida is that if you endure a cold winter like my family does, you can escape the snow and head to sunny and warm Florida. When my wife and I had kids, we realized that we could knock out two birds with one stone.
- Visit Florida during our winter season.
- Spend a week at Disney World when the kids got older.
I am not ready to call this a tradition for our family as it can get a bit pricey if you’re not careful. However, I do enjoy the trip to Orlando, Florida every year.
And the best part: you DO NOT have to make it a trip to Disney World!
There are so many things that you can do nearby that do not even cost a cent!
Check out my top five free activities that you can do while in Orlando.
I highly recommend finding a nice hotel in Orlando and taking the plunge. Take advantage of the pools and amenities that the hotel offers. Your kids will enjoy that for an entire day more than any park tickets!
It will easily be one of your kids best places to travel.
New York City
The city that never sleeps.
If you’re not a city person, taking your kids to New York City may not sound as enticing up front. I get it!
We took our kids to New York City for the first time in November 2022. Our twins were six years old and our son was just under two years old. We went between Thanksgiving and Christmas because we wanted to see the Christmas tree and feel Christmas in the air.
“Home Alone” is also one of my favorite movies of all time, so I just had to spend a day walking in Kevin McAllister’s footsteps.
So what can you do in New York City with kids?
Literally anything.
We went to a GIANT LEGO store, visited the American Girl store and had an appointment to get hair done for my daughter’s doll.
We had a delicious lunch together, saw the famous Christmas tree at Rockefeller center and stopped over at Macy’s which was all decorated for Christmas.
We also made our way over to Times Square and the Disney store!
It was a magical time during our favorite time of the year and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
We were so glad we had our Double Bob stroller with us to transport all of our tired kids at the end of the day!
Ocean City, New Jersey
Ocean City, New Jersey is truly our home away from home. We make an effort to visit at least twice each summer. This obviously makes OCNJ one of the best places to travel in 2023.
My wife and I grew up coming to this beach with our families, so we enjoy creating new traditions and carrying out old traditions from our childhood.
Our traditions include going for donut walks, mini-golf competitions, ice cream at night, rides, walks on the boardwalk, play time on the beach and arcades (especially if it rains on your beach vacation).
Ocean City, New Jersey has so much to offer and is very family friendly. The Mayor has recently enforced a lot of rules and curfews to ensure that it remains a family friendly town.
Fripp Island, South Carolina
Fun fact: Fripp Island was a filming location for the movie Forrest Gump. See, you learn something new everyday!
But seriously. Fripp Island is a must visit with your family. It is located just north of Hilton Head Island and south of Beaufort.
The best part? It’s a PRIVATE ISLAND.
It is only open to resort guests and residents. You literally need to show ID and reservations at a gated entrance as you drive onto the island. This makes it perfect for a quiet week away with your family and the beach practically to yourself!
We took our twins here when they were just under two years old. They enjoyed running up and down the beach, playing at the local playgrounds, exploring the different towns and spotting their first alligator!
Fripp Island was a perfect beach getaway for us as parents because we found it relaxing. We didn’t have to worry about crowds.
Our kids enjoyed roaming and exploring the beach with us. We were in a town we had never been before, so it was a week of exploring, which we absolutely loved.
It’s simply gorgeous there!

My kid is an outdoor person while I prefer to stay indoors. This means I have zero ideas where to take her most of the time if not a mall, lol. These are some great recommendations that I will sure give a try.
KRH,
Thanks for sharing! Let me know where you end up and take advantage of those outdoors!
